Frontier Women Alliance had the honour of participating in the Gender and Disability Electoral Working Group meeting

Frontier Women Alliance for Inclusive Development (FWAID) had the honour of participating in the Gender and Disability Electoral Working Group meeting at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Islamabad.

Our Executive Director, Ms. Rabia Tahir, joined this important dialogue chaired by Ms. Nighat Siddique, Director General ECP, alongside representatives from NCSW, NADRA, IFES, Aurat Foundation, UNDP Pakistan, Wajood Society, and other key civil society and development partners.

The discussion focused on the way forward for adopting a more inclusive electoral framework, with particular emphasis on strengthening the Inclusive National Voter Registration Campaign (INVR-V). Key reflections included progress under ECP’s 4th Strategic Plan, lessons learned, implementation challenges, and the critical role of civil society engagement in increasing voter registration and participation.

Special attention was given to ensuring meaningful participation of marginalized communities, especially persons with disabilities and the transgender community, in voter registration and the broader electoral process.

FWAID remains committed to advocating for rights-based, inclusive, and accessible democratic processes, and looks forward to continued collaboration with ECP and partners to ensure that no one is left behind in Pakistan’s electoral system.
